# Spotlight Grid

> A grid of feature cards lit by one light that follows the pointer: it catches the borders of every card in reach, so neighbouring edges glow as you move between them, and softly washes the card beneath. Set its color and reach, and a resting position for when the pointer leaves.

## Props

Other props pass through to the root element.

| Prop | Type | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `columns` | `2 \| 3 \| 4` | `3` | Columns on large screens. Phones get one column and tablets two. |
| `color` | `string` |  | The light's color, as any CSS color. Defaults to the theme's foreground. |
| `radius` | `number` | `320` | How far the light reaches, in px. |
| `restingLight` | `[number, number]` | | Where the light rests when no pointer is over the grid, as fractions of its width and height (`[0.5, 0]` is the top center). Leave it out to turn the light off instead. |

## Install

One-time setup (needs a subscription):

1. Add the registry to the project's `components.json`: `{"@assembli":{"url":"https://www.assembli.design/r/{name}.json","headers":{"Authorization":"Bearer ${ASSEMBLI_API_KEY}"}}}` (merge into `"registries"`).
2. Put an API key from https://www.assembli.design/account in `.env.local` as `ASSEMBLI_API_KEY=asm_…`.

Then install with the shadcn CLI (writes `components/spotlight-grid/spotlight-grid.tsx` and installs dependencies):

```bash
npx shadcn@latest add @assembli/spotlight-grid
```

Registry item JSON: https://www.assembli.design/r/spotlight-grid.json (send `Authorization: Bearer <api key>`)

## Code

> Component source needs an Assembli subscription ($12/month or $96/year) and an API key sent as `Authorization: Bearer <key>`. To get one without copying anything, POST https://www.assembli.design/api/agent/login (or call the MCP tool connect_account), show the user the link it returns, and poll https://www.assembli.design/api/agent/token for the key.
